Make a game with an AI agent

Hand the agent guide to Claude, ChatGPT or any coding agent, and import the game it writes.

A DreamMist game is a single .city.json file: the maps, people, wild Pokémon, story and weather are all plain data. So an AI agent can write a whole game for you, and you import it like any other city.

1. Give the agent the guide

The guide explains the file format, the tiles, people, story, doors and routes, and includes a builder script the agent runs to make the file.

  • Link: /agents.md. Agents that can browse can read it straight from your DreamMist site.
  • File: open the link, save it, and attach agents.md to your chat.

2. Ask for your game

Describe the game you want. The more you say about places, people and story, the better. For example:

Using the DreamMist agent guide, make me a game: a foggy fishing village with a Pokémon Center and a Mart, a forest route full of bug catchers and Wurmple, a Water-type gym run by an old sailor, and a side quest about a lost Wingull. Night time in the forest.

Using the DreamMist agent guide, make a snowy mountain town at night with pine trees, a cave route with Zubat and Geodude, a rival who stops me at the cave entrance, and a legendary Pokémon waiting at the end.

Agents that can run code follow the guide's steps: plan the game, write build-town.mjs, and run it to get the .city.json file. Others can write small maps by hand.

3. Import it

In the editor, open the city menu (or press ⌘ K) and choose Your cities → Import file, then pick the .city.json file. The game opens right away. Your current city stays saved in Your cities.

Then check the Problems count in the bottom bar: it lists doors that lead nowhere, story steps nobody completes, routes nobody can reach and other mistakes. Click a problem to jump to it, fix it yourself, or paste the list back to the agent.

4. Polish it in the editor

The agent uses a small set of tiles. Once imported, it's a normal city: paint more details with the full tileset, move people, tweak dialogue, change the weather, then press Play to test and Share or Publish it.

Ask for changes

Keep the chat going: "make the gym harder", "add a second route to the east", "the town feels empty, add a park". The agent edits build-town.mjs and runs it again, and you import the new file.
